Miami Pokékon Fest Happening This Saturday

Okay so PokeKon Fest is happening this Saturday, December 13th at the DoubleTree by Hilton Miami Airport and I’ve been refreshing the calendar waiting for this. 10 AM to 5 PM of nonstop Pokémon and I already warned my bank account.

This is a Pokémon collector’s dream setup. Vendors are bringing TCG cards (singles and sealed boxes), toys, retro games, video games, clothes, jewelry, candy, manga, art—basically if it’s Pokémon, it’s there. These aren’t randos selling whatever, these are actual collectors who know what they have.

Michael Haigney is showing up. THE Michael Haigney. He voiced Blastoise, Charmander, Snorlax, and Misty’s Psyduck in the original series. I can literally meet the person behind the voices I heard as a kid. Autographs, photos, all of it. I might actually cry.

Cosplay contest starts at 4 PM and it’s free to enter. I’m doing it because when else am I going to have an excuse to go full Pokémon trainer in public. Even if you don’t compete, watching people’s costumes is half the fun.

Panels run throughout the day on different Pokémon stuff. I need to check the schedule before I accidentally miss something important.

Tickets are $20, kids under 11 are free. The venue is at 711 NW 72nd Avenue in Miami at the DoubleTree—easy to get to and they have a free airport shuttle.

Get tickets online now. Saturday, December 13th, 10 AM to 5 PM. Bring cash, wear shoes you can walk in for hours, and maybe try to set a spending limit (but we all know that won’t last). See you there!
